Shelley Saffer has been making and selling her award-winning animals for over 30 years in the Rochester area. Each one is individually hand sculpted of low-fire, talc-based clay, under glazed, fired, glazed and fired again a unique creation signed and dated by the artist
She has also gone on mission trips to Peru, and has partnered with Foreman Varela in the work of Refugio (The Refuge). Proceeds from the sale of these pieces will go entirely towards the work of Refugio – whether it be for building supplies or labor in order to get it up and running
El Refugio (The Refuge) is a project being developed in Iquitos, Peru, by a Peruvian youth pastor/missionary. El Refugio is a camp especially for, but not limited to, youth, that is used by area churches for retreats,; conferences, concerts, sports events , movies, and other outreaches to the community. Eventually there will be buildings for the above mentioned events, including dorms for men and women, a warehouse to meet area needs, a ding hall to supply meals for children, playground, shops where people can learn useful trades, and an internet café.
Thank you for your support!
